Aligned Fabriflair Faceted Bowls

Posted on November 28, 2017February 21, 2021 by Mathew Boudreaux

I’ve decided that the end of the year is officially the time to slow down and try to work on only smaller projects. I did this last year too and I remember how rejuvenating it was, so I’ve decided to plant my flag and announce it to the world! And boy am I glad I’ve shifted my gaze to smaller projects because these Indygo Junction Fabriflair Faceted Bowls were quick, stylish and super practical.

They’re English Paper Piecing, so this involved hand sewing, but seriously each bowl is only 12 pentagons so it’s manageable.

I whip stitched on the inside of the shapes so you can’t see the stitches on the outside and then totally cheated by using fabric glue and gluing the pieces into the inside. No one will ever know the difference.

My fabric choices all came from Art Gallery Fabrics new Aligned Capsule Collection which is bananas!

Then for the thread I used Aurifil 40 wt Blue Gray and 50 wt Ermine, which are both a part of the Mister Domestics Tool Box. It’s almost as if these threads were made for these fabrics because they compliment them perfectly and are the perfect accent on the exposed whip stitching on the top of the Bowls.

To snag the pattern and many others, head over to Indygo Junction Fabriflair.

While I don’t promote anything unless I legit love it, this post contains an affiliate link.

Love then bowls but curious about the two threads. Which did you use to piece and which was for the hand work?

I used on thread for one entire blown and the second for the second entire bowl. Hope this helps.
