Christmas Fold-n-Stitch Wreath

Christmas Fold-n-Stitch Wreath

Posted on December 21, 2017February 24, 2021 by Mathew Boudreaux

When Amy Sinibaldi’s Little Town came out over the summer, I knew then and there that I was going to make this wreath come Christmas-time. And since Helena totally bogarted the color scheme of the tree with pinks and purples, this was my opportunity to make something in traditional Christmas colors that can later be decorated with ornaments and bows in whatever scheme Helena chooses each year.

In addition to fabric & thread, you’ll need the following if you wanna make this yourself:

  • Fold-n-Stitch Wreath pattern
  • Double-sided fusible Bosal
  • or Wreath Kit with Pattern & stabilizer for 2

For the thread, I used two of Helena’s 50 wt picks from the Helena’s Toy Box with Aurifil: Muslin for the topstitch & Emerald for the bobbin. Boy were they the perfect accent threads for this project.

And then I felt like the wreath needed a little extra zhoosh, so I had the cool idea of using another one of the fabrics in the collection to make a bow. But like the bow needed body because a flimsy bow wouldn’t do. So I made a tube using two 2.5″ strips and pressed it flat to make a ribbon. Then, I used this magical amazing product for the first time that blew my mind. It’s called Terial Magic and it’s a fabric stabilizer that basically turns fabric into paper with zero fray. You can either wash it out after the stabilizing period is over or leave it in like I did. And oh em gee looooooooook at this body-ody-ody.

I originally made this pattern last spring and made a Sunflower Wreath version, so if you don’t have time for the Holidays, this can be made all year round. Seriously it’s a lot easier than you’d think. So, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

MIssed the Sunflower, so glad you did a Christmas so I could catch it & make it quickly ~ will do in blues and white shimmery fabric for all-winter snowflake look. Thanks!

I bought all the supplies to make a spring wreath and plan on getting busy with it after Christmas. I love the fabric you chose for this one. It was great seeing you at Fabric Depot a few days ago. Have a fantasmic holiday!
