Fanny Pack made by Mattea Harrison

Fanny Pack made by Mattea Harrison

Posted on July 6, 2018March 8, 2020 by Mathew Boudreaux

Okay so when I had a call for makers for my Spring Quilt Market Booth and Mattea commented that she’d make a fanny pack, it took me zero seconds to say yes please. Like how cool is that? Fanny packs rule the school. Now let’s get to know Mattea a little:

Hello!

My name is Mattea Harrison and I sew fanny packs.

I have been sewing since I was five years old. As a child, I came up with my own words, that were a combination of actual words. My mom called these little quips, “Mattieisums.” This later became a perfect name for my business.

My obsession with fanny packs began when my brother purchased one for my sixteenth birthday. I decided soon after that I could make fanny packs. Quickly, this turned into a business. When I saw the opportunity to collaborate with another creator in Mathew’s “Loved to Pieces” collection, I jumped.

After “oo”ing and “ah”ing over all of the beautiful prints, I picked out five different patterns and anxiously awaited their arrival. When my five selections, Anthonem Serene, Pieced Bunches Cool, Mandala Drops Midnight, Topiary Frost, and Laced Infinity, arrived, I set to work designing and laying out the fabric.

When I was satisfied with my design, I sewed the fanny pack together and sent it off.

I can’t wait to see where the fabric collection goes and the next collection that Mathew designs. If “Loved to Pieces” was any clue, the next one will be a stunner as well.
