Little Miss Sweetness Bag – A Stitch in Time Book Tour

Little Miss Sweetness Bag – A Stitch in Time Book Tour

Last year, I was honored to participate in Sharon Burgess’ Book Tour for Quilting on The Go – English Paper Piecing. The Dilly Bag I made is still one of my favorite makes and I had a feeling whatever I made from her new book, A Stitch in Time, would be a similar experience, so of course I said yes when asked. The projects in her new book are all smaller in nature and there are definitely quite a few in there that I want to make. But for this tour, I chose the Little Miss Sweetness Bag because I’m quickly learning that a 5-year-old can never have too many bags.

Much like many of my EPP projects, I just grabbed fabric and cut it up without a larger plan. As I was stitching, I decided that I was going to arrange the shapes and make choices both knowing it was going to be a bag and emulating a high end designer bag. I figured with my new Aura Collection as the wind in my sails that I couldn’t fail on either endeavor.

And after I made the front panel, I accidentally made a second panel for the back, which the pattern didn’t call for. So this officially became a bag with two fronts instead of a front and a bag. And after quilting the appropriate pieces with Wonderfil Ultima in Aqua Blue and cutting out the remainder of the pieces, I was all ret-n-set to sew this bag together.

And like I’m not gonna lie, at this point I was a little nervous seeing this all together in the raw. The choices I made were bold and that Wine Purple Pure Elements Solid was a loud choice even for me. But I just had to tell myself that this happens in the middle of every project and that I could trust my ability to visualize a completed project even before I began. So plod along I did and woooooooooooooooooooooow am I basically patting myself on the back right now.

So make sure to check out the other amazing makers in Sharon’s Book Tour by checking the hashtag #astitchintimeepp. I’m 100% you will be blown away by both the patterns and the finished projects.
