Catch & Release Project Party Guest Blog

Catch & Release Project Party Guest Blog

Posted on September 7, 2019January 8, 2024 by Mathew Boudreaux

Hello! My name is Christina Johnson. You can find me on Instagram @suchaprettyfabric I am also in the process of starting a blog under the same name. I am a maker and a quilter who, like most of us, loves beautiful fabrics. I am delighted to be a guest on the Mister Domestic Blog for his Catch & Release fabric line. Encouraging and supporting other makers is one of my main goals, so I thought I would share 5 tips from my experience in the hopes that it will inspire you to take the leap and participate in a future blog/project party.

#1. Do it! Start! Jump in! Be brave! Don’t worry about what you lack in experience, skills or equipment. You will figure it out. I took my photos with an IPhone 5S and one of them made the cover along with a 2 page spread in the Art Gallery Fabrics Catch & Release LookBook. I couldn’t have dreamed this would happen. Think what if…….

#2. Work hard!! Give 100%. You are not only representing yourself, you are representing Mathew (Mister Domestic) and Art Gallery Fabrics. Treat this project as you would want someone else to treat it if this was your fabric line. You will get out of it what you put in to it. Don’t waste the opportunity.

#3. Photography is key. Plan TONS of time for it. Commit to growth and enjoying the process. It might take 100 pictures to get one amazing shot. That’s okay. You learned what not to do 99 times and that is just as important. You will improve.

#4. Push boundaries. Play. Experiment. Have fun. This is not about perfection. It is an amazing opportunity for growth. Stretch yourself. Reach for more. See what you can do!

#5. Work with Mathew! He is a generous and kind soul. Mathew allows makers to shine  brighter and share the spotlight. He sets a standard for how we should be valued and treated. When you know what this treatment feels like, you are able to use that knowledge to assess other opportunities and make better decisions for yourself. Mathew is a treasure.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my very first blog post. How crazy is that? My first blog post is on Mister Domestic’s blog!  Another unexpected and marvelous outcome. I hope that you decide to submit a proposal to participate in a Mister Domestic Blog/Project Party and experience all of this for yourself!

With Gratitude, Christina

Hi Pat! Thank you so much! These are all patterns I found online. The information for each block is on my Instagram feed if you’d like to find the patterns. Most are free, others are very inexpensive. If you have any questions, send me a DM on Instagram and I’m happy to help. ?
