A couple days ago, I was asked by Johnny Barfuss of Big City Quilts if I would help spread the word about an amazing project that he has organized to help support the LoveLoud Foundation. Established by Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons (who is also on Helena’s heavy rotation), the mission of LoveLoud is: “Ignite the vital conversation about what it means to unconditionally love, understand, accept and support our LGBTQ+ friends and family. LGBTQ+ youth in unaccepting homes and communities are 8 times more likely to commit suicide and 3 times more likely to engage in risky drug use”. As part of the fundraiser, Dan is also hosting the LoveLoud Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, where suicide is the number one cause of death for young men. This cause is near and dear to Johnny’s heart, as well as mine, which is why he decided to find a way to involve the quilting community and why I stopped everything else I was doing to create a block and help spread the word.
Sari of Sariditty Handmade created a foundation paper pieced template using the LoveLoud logo (with permission of course) and Johnny is calling all makers to help make a block or two for as many quilts to be auctioned off as a fundraiser for the Encircle House in Provo at their upcoming art fundraiser. Oh what a wonderful cause. Just requested a few kits and ill get them done asap. Such a cause dear to mu heart.
I have received a kit to make a quilt block for the LoveLoud quilt. I am an experienced seamster, but I am not use to making a pattern on my own. Can anyone help to locate a pattern to cut the various pieces out? I am wanting to get this completed over the weekend. If anyone could help me out, my email is LBreeden653@gmai.com. I have tried suicide myself a couple of times and am so proud to help people that are trying to make the world a better place.
