Double Crochet Ribbed Stitch Scarf

Double Crochet Ribbed Stitch Scarf

Posted on November 16, 2019January 8, 2024 by Mathew Boudreaux

While in Houston for Quilt Festival, I discovered Knit Picks and they took all my money. I needed a project that I didn’t have to think about for the flight home, so I snagged 4 skeins of the Finley Heather Wonderfluff and settled on making a scarf.

Eventually I’ll put the stitch chart here when I remember, but it’s basically double crochet and after the first set of double crochets I alternated between the front and the back post and made sure it was all going the same direction when I went the other way and I ended with a half double crochet.

I needed to order one more skein to make it long enough for my liking and yaaay a scarf was born.

So I totally love this scarf and yarn but it sheds which I’m guessing is normal so does anyone know how to de-shed it? Like do I use my vacuum or take it outside and shake it like a Polaroid picture or will washing it remove it? Knew to all this yarn business so any tips in the comments would help a brother out.

Lovin the scarf! Put in dryer on air only with a fabric softener sheet. The sheet attracts stray fibers. Must say you’re looking pretty dapper in this pic.

How wonderfully productive to have a new scarf by the time you finish your flight. Boy, I wish I had an answer for you as I have the same question!! This past summer I bought a gorgeous wrap at the Farmers’ Market. The yarns are hand spun from the maker’s alpacas (yes, each row has a name, lol!). Its soft, cozy warm, gorgeous and leaves fur everywhere! Take it from me – don’t wear that scarf with anything black until you get an answer.

I would do would do what Roxanne suggested and if that doesn’t work, wash it. Remember, it has to be hand washed and layed flat to dry.
