If the participation and creativity of Block 1 is any indication of the magnitude of this EPP Party, it’s already pretty clear that this is the party that will be talked about for generations to come. And even if you’re just now joining the party, hakuna matata mmkay because the beauty of this party is that it is whatever you make it. All fun and no stress allowed.
So Block 2 is called Equilateral. After sewing the twists and turns of hexagons, we thought it would be groovy to introduce some “simpler” shapes to the party. VIDEOS & TIPS
For those newer to EPP, here’s some guidance on the order that I stitched my pieces. I essentially worked in four quadrants. So taking one quadrant, I’d sew all the triangles together to make squares. Then I’d sew two pair of squares together and then sew those rectangles together to create a larger square. Then once I had all four larger squares stitched, I followed this same process with those to get the full block.
And even though these are simpler shapes, there are definitely some opportunities for you to “next level” this block. We created a couple new YouTube videos for this block, so make sure to check them out by clicking on the images below.
In addition to the videos, here’s a little tip for making sure that the corners all align after you’ve sewn the rows of squares:
- Match up the corners of all four squares
- Right sides together, sew one stitch on close to the corners, tie a knot and snip thread
- See how they’re all connected now.
- Stitch the pieces together, open up and enjoy corners on fleek

“On fleek” is a ridiculous slang term meaning “on point” or “awesome”. My use is both an attempt to be cool and make fun of the fact that such a phrase exists because it’s ridiculous.

My block 2 is measuring 12 1/4″. Should I be worried?
I mean you should never worry in sewing, but it should indeed measure 12″ x 12″. You could always trim like I showed in my video: where’d you get the papers?
I printed them out from the templates. I think the problem is my cutting. I cut right on the outside of the black line.
